Doing more good deeds

What we do is recorded by two angels on both shoulders, one on the right writing good deeds, the one on the left writing sins. On the day of judgement, deeds will be put on a scale to decide the final destination of humans after death.

Charity is a reminder to be prepared to face Allah on the day of judgement and collect as many good deed rewards as possible to grow an eternal good deeds balance. The belief has to be firm, and then the best way to do this is doing some charity. Your time and wealth spent in the way of Allah are the real savings for your life in the Hereafter.

Quran 2:261

The verse above shows that Allah will reward good deeds up to 700 times back on the Day of Judgement when people will be in desperate need.

Everyone has something to offer to others around them. If nothing is valuable, simply a smile for others would enhance their morale; that would be a good deed. Allah says in the Qur’an, if you are fortunate to meet your own needs and can help others, first to take care of your relatives, then the orphans, the needy, the neighbourhood and any other people in need. Anything you can to make a positive impact in others’ lives. A small contribution can make a big difference.

Allah says in Surah At-Takaathur that we will be questioned about our worldly and materialistic desired in our graves.

Allah asked Iblees (the devil who’s rank was elevated due to his knowledge and wisdom) to bow his head to Adam (AS) when creating humans. This was because Allah had created humans to be the best of His creations. But he denied this because of his pride and arrogance. And so his position fell from such a high rank and position amongst the Angels to the worst of creation. If we think about that, a question comes to mind – is our aim in this life to eat well, sleep in a nice bed, drive a nice car, etc and spend all the time and money to achieve a good living and die? Eating, sleeping, reproducing – all living organisms do. Then what’s the difference? Human beings feel the pain of others, think, plan and do something to reduce the difficulties.

We come to this world alone, and we will go alone and face Allah on the Day of Judgement alone. Are we doing enough for our lives in the Hereafter? It’s always possible to choose the right path. Charity is not mandatory if someone cannot afford it, but if you are fortunate enough, then it’s worth doing more charity to experience a more fulfilling life and relaxed departure with the hope of Allah’s kindness on the Day of Judgment. Helping others is a positive attitude. Allah gives more to those who spend His way. Life is uncertain, death is inevitable, and we belong to Allah and shall return to Him. So, do your best for your eternal success.
